“Pick me, pick me”, the little orange fruit exclaimed, when it was ignored it turned to its mother.
“Mummy, why wasn’t I picked? I also want to be a flowing fruit juice like Daddy!”
The mom replied, “When you’re mature enough you’ll be made into fruit juice”
The above conversation was a popular commercial from a juice-producing company I enjoyed watching when I was old. Over the years, the lesson from this stuck (God bless the promoters who had taught me a lesson unknowingly).
You see, in today’s fast-paced world, everyone wants to make it real quick without going through processes. We forget that in the intricate tapestry of human existence, certain destinations remain elusive until we traverse the winding paths of life’s cycles. From the cradle to the grave, we embark on a journey fraught with challenges and triumphs, each phase demanding its toll before bestowing its treasures.
We want to skip to the good part (as my Gen Zs call it) and ignore the sacrifices that those who are currently in the good part have made. Yes, sacrifices must be made (in the voice of the popular Nollywood actor, Kanayo O Kanayo). Your sacrifice might be the school you’re attending right now without missing classes so that when you come out you can be able to show yourself approved. It might be taking another course to become better at your job. It might be working extra hours for the promotion you seek. Just ensure you do not skip your process of becoming.
Success stories are sweeter when we know that we did not cut ceritocracet therewhen we know they are products of mmeritocracyy. We sometimes, pray for the phases to go away but instead, I think we should imitate the cactus plant that found adaptive features to survive in the desert. Grow a thick skin!
In conclusion, the journey of life is a cyclical odyssey, marked by peaks and valleys, triumphs and tribulations. Yet, it is through the passage of time and the payment of dues that we attain access to life’s most sacred places. Only by embracing the challenges, and the lessons they bring can we unlock the treasures that await us on the other side and by then we will become flowing fruit juices like Daddy!
